In a creative writing session, work on the way we look at the world, and the way we shape words and sentences to give a sense of presence to this way of seeing.

Availability: 2 / 3 hours per session; single session
Description: In this translation workshop, students will take a single Shijing poem and build, step by step, a translation written in French or English. Important questions raised include: How do we take something old and make it new? How do we preserve or sacrifice a sense of the "Chinese"? How might we understand not just the cultural and linguistic gaps, but also the differences in poetics between two times and languages?
