Invite your students to step into the world of Silvano Santos (Contramestre Tucum), a master practitioner featured in Choke Clinch Crank Combat who brings the rich cultural heritage of Capoeira from Bahia, Brazil, to Singapore's classrooms. Students will participate in dynamic warm-ups followed by instruction in fundamental Capoeira movements including ginga (footwork), cocorinha (defensive maneuvers), meia-lua-de-frente (kicks), and (cartwheels). Through partner work emphasizing movement patterns without physical contact, they'll understand the strategic and aesthetic dimensions of the art form. The session culminates in learning traditional Capoeira songs in Brazilian Portuguese and demonstrating newly acquired skills.

This workshop offers students a unique opportunity to engage with a martial art that is simultaneously a form of combat, dance, music, and cultural expression. With over 30 years of teaching experience across Brazil and Southeast Asia, Contramestre Tucum embodies the intersection of tradition and adaptation—themes central to understanding identity and cultural preservation in literature. Through Flowartes, he has inspired hundreds to embrace Capoeira's holistic approach to physical and mental well-being, making him an ideal guide for students exploring narratives of heritage, resilience, and community in Choke Clinch Crank Combat..

This workshop offers students a transformative perspective on resilience, adaptation, and what it means to overcome obstacles. Jed's story embodies the power of reframing challenges into opportunities. His multidisciplinary expertise in Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and wrestling demonstrates how individuals develop unique approaches to shared goals, resonating with literary explorations of identity, perseverance, and the human capacity for growth in Choke Clinch Crank Combat.

The session opens with an empathy-building activity where blindfolded students must locate and collect scattered balls using only their teammates' verbal guidance. This is followed by Muay Thai fundamentals including a warm-up game focused on partner awareness (tapping shoulders), solo drills and shadow boxing, partner work practicing basic punches and kicks, and clinching exercises that emphasize off-balancing techniques using controlled contact. Throughout, students will experience how martial arts training relies on multiple senses and adaptive strategies.

Gabriel's expertise in athlete development and systems-building offers students insight into how discipline, preparation, and incremental progress create excellence—themes that resonate throughout sports narratives in literature. His commitment to sustainable growth and community development mirrors the journeys of characters who must balance individual ambition with collective responsibility.

The session begins with non-contact competitive drills, progressing through wrestling fundamentals with controlled physical contact. Students will master safe falling techniques, explore wrestling posture through mirror games and controlled push exercises, and participate in modified wrestling games (Fox Tails, Back Take, Shark & Escape). The workshop culminates in modified live wrestling with point-scoring systems that reward both control and partner safety. Throughout, emphasis is placed on the principle that wrestling is "about control, balance, and falling safely"—not aggression.
