PANEL: SG Unbound: The Japanese Influence in Singapore Literature

  • BooksActually 9 Yong Siak Street Singapore, 168645 Singapore (map)

BooksActually presents a panel titled Singapore Unbound: The Japanese Influence in Singapore Literature, featuring Jee Leong Koh, Cyril Wong, and Daryl Qilin Yam.

In its religious practices, aesthetic traditions, and entertaining folklore, Japan is a powerful source of inspiration for Singapore's writers and artists. Three Singaporean writers – Cyril Wong, Daryl Qilin Yam, and Koh Jee Leong, will read from their Japanese-influenced works of poetry and prose, and speak about Japan's impact on their writing.

Cyril Wong is the prizewinning author of Satori Blues and The Boy With The Flower That Grew Out Of His Ass.  Daryl Qilin Yam's Kappa Quartet was listed for the inaugural Epigram Books Fiction Prize. Koh Jee Leong is the author of The Pillow Book and Steep Tea, the latter named a Best Book of the Year by UK's Financial Times.
