2017 Singapore Unbound Fellowship Award Event

  • Artistry 17 Jalan Pinang Singapore, 199149 Singapore (map)

Nur Sabrina binte Dzulkifli receives the first Singapore Unbound Fellowship and gives a reading of her work. Readings by Noraliah Norasid, the 2016 Epigram Books Fiction Prize winner, and Teo Xiao Ting will accompany the main reading. Playwright Joel Tan will moderate.

The goal of the Singapore Unbound Fellowship is to cultivate literary talent and encourage literary achievement by immersing a promising Singaporean author in the cultural life of New York City. Home to trail-blazing writers and literary organizations, exciting theater, innovative art, and diverse communities, New York City offers a stimulating environment and powerful inspiration for creative writing.

The fellowship, worth USD5000, is awarded to an author who demonstrates great promise and who will benefit significantly from a stint in NYC. Upon acceptance of the fellowship, the recipient resides in New York City for two continuous weeks, working on a writing project and experiencing the vibrant life of the city. They participate in one literary event organized by Singapore Unbound, which may take the form of a public reading, panel discussion, or school visit.

The event is free and all are welcomed. RSVP strongly recommended (jkoh@singaporeunbound).
