THE SCIENCE IN ART (ASSEMBLY TALK)
For: secondary, junior college
Availability: 1 hour per session; single session
Description: In today's world, Arts and Science are often perceived as separate entities when historically this was not the case. Many great scientists were artists and many great artists had scientific curiosities. Through this talk, participants will identify a few such figures and be introduced to contemporary and local artists who use science regularly in their work.
Learning Outcomes: Participants will be able to identify key historical figures who combined science and art in their work, recognise local writers and artists that use science and technology in their creative practices and examine how the sciences and arts can complement each other.

In this workshop, participants will be offered the opportunity to explore this multi-disciplinary approach to writing an eco-poem about an area of local interest such as habitat loss, water resource management or carbon emissions and footprints.
