Support the growth of Singapore’s literary scene
Further the skills of writers, raise public interest in literature, and contribute to the sustainability and survivability of Singaporean literature. This all-in-one campaign supports three pillars:
Writer Development: Empowering established and emerging writers and collectives in their artistic and professional journeys (Jalan Besar Fellowship, Manuscript Bootcamp).
Youth & Education: Building a dynamic community of young readers and writers (Book A Writer, Camp Lit, and Singapore Writers Festival’s Youth Fringe).
Community Development: Providing equal access to quality programmes for marginalised and underserved communities (Creative Writing in Prison, Migrant Writers of Singapore).
Nurture Literary Talent and Enrich Singaporean Stories
Sing Lit Station supports writers at every step of their journey, be it by kickstarting projects through the Jalan Besar Fellowship or providing intensive editorial feedback through Manuscript Bootcamp.
Annually, Sing Lit Station runs these programmes at a loss of $17,000; we need your help to sustain our work in 2025.
With your support, we can maintain our impact, deliver quality programmes that nurture literary excellence, and elevate Sing Lit on the global stage.
This campaign will be public in August 2024. You may make an advanced donation via PayNow (UEN: 201615577D). Once transferred, please e-mail contact@singlitstation.com with a screenshot of your transfer confirmation.
Support the Discovery & Development of Artistic Talents in Vulnerable Youth
This programme supports youths between 13 to 18 years old from underserved communities who have a keen interest in the arts.
Partnering with social work organisations, "PULP" is a series of workshops covering various forms of creative writing like fiction and poetry, and other hands-on artistic endeavors like zine making, risograph printing and songwriting.
Participants will produce a multi-disciplinary project over the course of the programme, and conclude with a public exhibition.
The public campaign has ended, but we are still accepting donations via PayNow (UEN: 201615577D). Once transferred, please e-mail contact@singlitstation.com with a screenshot of your transfer confirmation.
Create a Home for Writers From All Walks of Life
While there are other charities focused on the working conditions of migrant workers, as well as those that strive to promote literature, none specifically cater to migrant workers' aspirations to pursue their literary ambitions. However, migrant workers surveyed at Sing Lit Station events told us they aspired to be arts organisers, perform their work on larger stages, and publish solo collections. We aim to bridge this gap by offering support to nurture not only their writing and artistic abilities but also their capacities as facilitators and arts organisers through:
2 new writing workshops resulting in 250 new works in 2025.
An 8-day exhibition showcasing literary and visual artworks by 30 migrant artists, featuring poetry readings and panel discussions.
Training sessions to equip 10 migrant workers to lead programmes and encourage their growth as facilitators.
This campaign will be public in December 2024. You may make an advanced donation via PayNow (UEN: 201615577D). Once transferred, please e-mail contact@singlitstation.com with a screenshot of your transfer confirmation.
Revitalise Singapore’s Literary Canon; Invest in Our Authors’ Future
In Singapore, there are few avenues for poets to be published, and fewer places that are willing to platform writing that might be considered experimental.
Our nation’s poets and writers are in great need for a publisher who can advocate for their authors; represent and safeguard their rights; enthusiastically talk about their books; and nurture their words with attention to detail and an open heart.
Sing Lit Station is looking for folks who champion everything we are known for: our literary spirit, our belief in Singaporean stories, and our commitment to diversity.
