பல்லூழிக் காலப் பெரும் பூ
இன்பா

என் அன்னை கிளம்பும் போது
அவள் கைகளில் இருந்த
பழம்பெரும் பூங்கொத்தை
எனக்குக் கொடுத்துச் சென்றாள்
நான் அதிலிருந்த பூ ஒன்றின்
சிறு விதையை
என் வீட்டுத் தொட்டியில் பதியமிட்டேன்
மெல்ல கண் விழித்தது
ஆயிரமாண்டு தாவரம்.
பின்பு ஒரு நாள்
நான் கிளம்பும் முன்பு
அதில் பறித்த மலர்கொண்டு
ஒரு பூங்கொத்து தயாரித்து
உன் கைகளுக்குத் தருவேன்
அதைப் பத்திரமாய்ப் பார்த்துக்கொள்
மகளே
என் கோடி நூற்றாண்டுப் பூவே!


Magnificent Ancient Flower

My mother gave me
an ancient bouquet
of exquisite flowers.
Timeless, eternal.

From a single flower
of this bouquet
of countless eras,
I took a tiny seed.
Planted it.

Slowly, very slowly,
an age-old plant
opened its eyes,
blossoming again.

One day, before I leave,
I too will gather blossoms,
from this timeless ancient plant.
Make a bouquet
and place it in your hands.

Keep it safe
my dear daughter
Oh blossom
of innumerable centuries!

Inbha is a Singapore poet and writer, known for her intuitive, inspired, and interactive literary style. Her work explores human behaviour, societal dynamics, migration, and the intersection of personal and collective experiences. She has authored six poetry collections, short stories, and articles, and her work has been recognized with awards including the Singapore Literature Prize, Tamil Nadu Government Best Book Award, Thanjavur Tamil University Karikarcholan award and the National Arts Council Golden Point Award.

இன்பா — சிங்கப்பூரைச் சேர்ந்த கவிஞர், எழுத்தாளர். ஆறு கவிதைத் தொகுப்புகளும், ஒரு சிறுகதைத் தொகுப்பும், மூன்று தொகுப்பு நூல்களும் வெளியிட்டுள்ளார். அயலகத் தமிழ்க் கவிதை நூலுக்கான தமிழக அரசு விருது, தஞ்சாவூர் தமிழ்ப் பல்கலைக் கழகத்தின் கரிகாற்சோழன் விருதுடன், 2022ல் சிங்கப்பூர் இலக்கியப் பரிசினைப் பெற்றவர். தகவல் தொழில் நுட்பத் துறையில் அதிகாரியாகப் பணியாற்றும் இவர் சிங்கப்பூர்த் தமிழ்க் கவிஞர் இயக்கமான கவிமாலையின் தலைவர் மற்றும் திணைகள்.காம் தளத்தின் நிர்வாக ஆசிரியர்.

Poems on the MRT is an initiative by the National Arts Council, in partnership with SMRT and Stellar Ace. Produced by Sing Lit Station, a local literary non-profit organisation, this collaboration displays excerpts of Singapore poetry throughout SMRT’s train network, integrating local literature into the daily experience of commuters. Look out for poems in English, Chinese, Malay, and Tamil in trains on the East-West, North-South and Circle Lines, as well as videos created by local artists and featuring local poets in stations and on trains.
