கடலுக் கடியில் விரைவுச் சாலை
தலைப்பில்லா
அ.கி.வரதராசன்

மண்ணுக் கடியில் மறைந்த பாதை
எண்ணற் கரிய இடரைத் தீர்க்க,
தடைகள் இன்றித் தத்தம் இலக்கை
அடைவர் மக்கள் அலுப்பே இன்றி
உடலுக் குள்ளே ஓடும் குழாயாய்க்
கடலுக் கடியில் கட்டினோம் சாலை
நெரிசல் உறுமோ நெடுநாள் சென்று
கரிசனத்தோடு கவனம் வைத்து,
பின்நாள் தன்னில் பிழையா வண்ணம்,
முன்நாள் திட்டம் முழுதாய் வடித்தோம்.


Expressways Beneath the Sea

A road unseen beneath the ground,
built to ease myriad problems.
So that people,
without hindrance,
may reach their destinations
in comfort and without hassle.

Like the arteries and veins
running though the body,
we built this road beneath the ocean.

What if the congestion
recurs after many years?

From the beginning,
we built it
with care and foresight.
So that it will not fail to meet
future needs.

A.K. Varadharajan was born in Tamil Nadu. He has a degree in engineering. When he was 38, he migrated to Singapore to seek employment and became a Singapore Citizen in 1993. He is 80 now. For the past ten years, he had staged a musical drama every year related to Thirumurai. Under the sponsorship of the Hindu Endowment Board, he has conducted classes via zoom on the great Tamil epic - Kambaramayanam - for the past five years. He has written many poetry books and research-oriented books in Tamil on Kamba Ramayanam. These have won many prizes and literary titles and awards.

அ.கி.வரதராஜன் (அத்தாழநல்லூர் கிருஷ்ணன் வரதராஜன்) தமிழகத்தின் ஸ்ரீவைகுண்டம் என்னும் ஊரில் பிறந்தவர்..பொறியியல் பட்தாரி. தனது 38ஆம் வயதில், வேலையேற்க சிங்கப்பூர் வந்தவர். தற்போது சிங்கப்பூர் குடியுரிமை பெற்று கடந்த 42 ஆண்டுகளாகச் சிங்கையில் வசிக்கிறார். வயது 80. இயக்கம், பாடலாக்கம், மேடை அமைப்பு, ஒட்டு மொத்த நிர்வாகம் என, பல பொறுப்புகளையும் ஏற்று திருமுறை தொடர்பான மரபுக் கவிதை இசை நாடகங்களை கடந்த பத்து ஆண்டுகளாக, இவர் சிங்கப்பூரில் மேடையேற்றி வருகிறார். கடந்த ஐந்து ஆண்டுகளாக, சிங்கப்பூர் இந்து அறக்கட்டளை வாரிய ஆதரவில் கம்பராமாயண வகுப்பினை வாரம் தோறும் இணைய வழி நடத்தி வருகிறார். இவரது மரபுக் கவிதை நூல்களும், கம்பன் குறித்த ஆய்வு நூல்களும் சிங்கையிலும் தமிழ்நாட்டிலும் பல பரிசுகளை வென்றுள்ளன. சிங்கை, தமிழகம், இலங்கை போன்ற நாடுகளின் அமைப்புகள் இவருக்கு விருதுகளும் பட்டங்களும் வழங்கியுள்ளன.
