Fans of Hanya Yanagihara, listen up! The American author of the 2015 Man Booker Prize shortlisted book – A Little Life, as well as The People In The Trees, will be making a special appearance at Kinokuniya Singapore Main Store on Thursday, 10th November, 7.00 p.m. to talk about and sign the US edition of her two books*!
A Little Life follows four college classmates – broke, adrift, and buoyed only by their friendship and ambition – as they move to New York in search of fame and fortune. While their relationships, which are tinged by addiction, success and pride, deepen over the decades, the men are held together by their devotion to the brilliant, enigmatic Jude, a man scarred by an unspeakable childhood trauma.
In The People In The Trees, the author writes about a young doctor named Norton Perina who signs on with anthropologist Paul Tallent for an expedition to the remote Micronesian island of Ivu’ivu in search of a rumoured lost tribe. This book is an anthropological adventure story that combines the visceral allure of a thriller with a profound and tragic vision of what happens when cultures collide.
