Join Wesley Leon Aroozoo, on 2 and 3 April as part of The Substations Artist Walk program, on a time travelling journey through Bugis to trace the steps of Oseki and Gobind from his novel, The Punkhawala and the Prostitute. This guided tour is an opportunity to experience a different Singapore through the eyes of an artist in a unique and intimate setting.
“As an independent artist, I am passionate to share the lesser known side of Singapore’s diverse history with people. My novel The Punkhawala and The Prostitute explores the lives of the Karayuki-sans (Japanese prostitutes) in 1800’s in Singapore which is relatively unknown to most Singaporeans. With The Substation’s first artist walk, I am excited to share my research and guide participants to imagine what it was like in Singapore back then we trace the footsteps of the Karayuki-sans depicted in the novel.”
Walks are limited to 12 pax per experience and will last for 90 minutes. Tickets are on sale now for SGD $20 per person and can be purchased via the link below.
