Originally from Singapore, Yu-Mei has been based in Boston since 2018. Since completing an MFA in creative writing at Boston University, she has been working on her first novel, teaching fiction writing at GrubStreet and working at an independent bookstore. In this session she will share her experiences as a Singaporean writer negotiating the American publishing industry, including submitting to literary journals, participating in writing conferences, and creating a more inclusive and constructive workshop experience for her students.
