Amanda Lee Koe in conversation with Tash Aw: 2pm

Amanda Lee Koe, the youngest winner of the Singapore Literature Prize for her story collection Ministry of Moral Panic, will be making a special appearance at 2.00 p.m. to launch her debut novel, Delayed Rays Of A Star.

The razor thin edge between fulfilling one’s ambition and selling one’s soul is revealed via the lives of three legendary women – Marlene Dietrich, Anna May Wong and Leni Riefenstahl. This fierce and exquisite debut about womanhood, ambition and art, played out against the shifting political tides of the twentieth century, introduces a mesmerizing new literary talent of our times.

Tash Aw in conversation with Amanda Lee Koe: 3.15 p.m.

At 3.15 p.m., acclaimed Malaysian author Tash Aw, who has twice been longlisted for the Man Booker prize, will present his latest novel – We, The Survivors.

A murderer’s confession – devastating, unblinking, poignant, unforgettable – reveals a story of class, education and the inescapable workings of destiny.

Lee Hock Lye – known to his friends as Ah Hock – is a young man with vague ideas of living in a better place than the Malaysian village he is born into, where families harvest cockles from the polluted mudflats. He follows the rules and strives to improve himself in a country that promises riches and security to everyone, but in reality, delivers them only to a chosen few. With Asian society changing around him, Ah Hock remains trapped in a world of poorly paid jobs that just about allow him to keep his head above water. But what leads Ah Hock to kill a man?
