Spoke & Bird is back this month with not one but two incredible poets, author of legendary poetry collections Law of Second Marriages (2011) and Separation: A History (2014) Christine Chia and all the way from Boston, spoken word poet (with thousands of views on Button Poetry) Sean Patrick Mulroy!
The poetry open mic will run as usual with 12 5-minute slots available. Each open mic-er will be given 5 minutes to perform any number of poems. Sign up for a spot below!
Christine Chia is a poet. She also co-edited the groundbreaking anthology A Luxury We Cannot Afford (Math Paper Press, 2014) and a sequel, A Luxury We Must Afford (2016). Her first play was read at Centre 42’s First Acts. She is working on a second play and a third book of poetry.
Sean Patrick Mulroy is a writer, actor, visual artist, and musician from the American South; now he lives all over the world. A nationally recognized writer and performer and an award winning professor, Sean earned his MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, is a 2013 Lambda Literary Fellow, a 2017-2018 Writer-in-Residence at The Kerouac Project in Orlando Florida, and a 2019 Writer in Residence at Villa Sarkia in Sysma, Finland.
