Sing Lit Station, in partnership with Dermaga and the Malay Heritage Centre, proudly presents The Fundamentals of Translation: a workshop with Annaliza Bakri, Hamid Roslan and Yeo Wei Wei.

What happens in the process of translation? How does a translator decide who he/she wants to translate? What does it mean to speak of faithfulness in translation?

Participants will discuss and explore the issues that come up in translation. We go back to the basics by focusing on the translator as first and foremost a dedicated reader, a reader made of guts, empathy and imagination. Participants’ translations of Singaporean poems will be workshopped during the session.

Writing materials and catering for dinner will be provided. This event is supported by the Malay Language Learning and Promotion Committee. To register, for more info, click here or the event link provided below.
