BooksActually is proud to present the launch of Sofia and the Utopia Machine, in a meet-the-author session with Judith Huang.
Sofia of Sofia and the Utopia Machine is an ordinary schoolgirl living in a future Singapore where the population is divided into three social strata. Her father is missing, her mother doesn’t understand her and she is having a hard time in school. Sofia inadvertently unlocks the gateway to a new world – which she thinks is a utopia – but in doing so, she realises she must escape the government’s radar.
Author Judith Huang is a three-time winner of the UK Poetry Society’s Foyle Young Poet of the Year award, and has been published in Prairie Schooner, Asia Literary Review, QLRS, LONTAR: The Journal of Southeast Asian Speculative Fiction, Stylus and Asymptote. Judith was born in Singapore, did her A.B. in English and American Literature and Language at Harvard University, and has lived in Singapore, Australia, the United States and China.
