We have always sought to make sense of life, and art lends itself to an incredibly rich expression. The Deepest Blue unfurls this tendency through examining water as a metaphorical articulation towards mental health.

Four Singapore-based artists will be responding to the stories of chosen works from the past. This is a safe space to explore the intricate human experience, with boundless opportunities for interpretation, contestation and conversation.

The book accompanying the exhibition features essays that approach the works of Virginia Woolf, Frida Kahlo, Helen Frankenthaler, and Zelda Fitzgerald from new angles, and how the exhibition’s response adds to an understanding of how mental health has been explored in art.

We will be handing over the gallery space to our publication authors, Jeremy Fernando, Jollin Tan & Samuel Lee for the afternoon. Join them as they transform it into a conversational and inclusive time of reading and writing the visual arts.
