Writing the City - March 2018 - With Meira Chand

  • Toa Payoh Library 6 Toa Payoh Central Singapore, 319191 Singapore (map)

Join Writing the City for its March edition with Meira Chand!

In March, as part of the SG Author Series organised by the National Library Board, Writing the City will be joined by Singaporean writer, Meira Chand, who will share her insights on the craft of novel writing and take you through some of her techniques, using passages from her novels.

Meira Chand is of Indian-Swiss parentage, and has lived in Japan, India, and Singapore. Her novels spring from the confluence of different cultures in her life, with 15 strong themes of identity and belonging. Specialising in historical fiction, she is best known for A Different Sky, which was long listed for the Impac Dublin award 2012, and was on Oprah Winfrey’s Book Club recommended reading list. Her ninth novel Sacred Waters was published in 2017. Apart from novels, she has also written the story from which The LKY Musical was developed. In Singapore, she is involved in many programmes to promote literature and mentor young writers. She is now a Singapore citizen and has made her permanent home in the country.

If you would like to come along, do register at the Eventbrite link below, and Jon Gresham will email you further details.

Also, if you wish to have your story read and thoughtfully considered by the Writing the City facilitator and/or the participants at the later April 2018 workshop, do kindly email me directly at
