Join us for the October edition of Writing The City, where we will be looking at Crafting Credible Dialogue with Verena Tay. We will also review participants' stories, enjoy writing exercises and answer queries on writing issues.

Our special guest this October, Verena Tay, has published two collections of short stories (Spectre: Stories from Dark to Light, 2012; Spaces: People/Places, 2016) and four volumes of plays, and edited twelve story anthologies, including the popular Balik Kampung series published by Math Paper Press.

A seasoned storyteller and theatre practitioner, she has also brought traditional and her own stories vocally and physically alive in her unique fashion, delighting audiences in Singapore, Scandinavia, Wales, Australia, the US and Malaysia. She is a writer-in-residence at Nanyang Technological University this semester.

Writers are often stuck when trying to show how their characters interact and speak with one another in a way that seems authentic and allows the plot to unfold plausibly. If you would like to come along, register on the event link provided below.
