This event marks the 95th birth anniversary of the late Fang Hsiu (方修), one of the most significant pioneers and scholars of 1940s-1980s Malaysian Chinese literature. Bringing together friends and writers connected to Fang, it traces his extraordinary journey in education, journalism and finally academia through video presentations, poetry recitations and readings. Malaysian author Zheng Gong (甄供) would also be present to share about an upcoming biography 《方修传》he is working on, that documents Fang's journey in researching and writing some of his most notable books on the history of Malaysian Chinese literature.

Besides being one of Malaysia’s top Chinese literary historians and novelists, Zheng Gong is also the editor of arts and culture columns at various news publications. He is heavily involved in the Chinese education sector, having served as a researcher at several education think tanks and publishing several critical texts on Chinese literary education.
