READING: "Kappa Quartet", Daryl Qilin Yam

  • BooksActually 9 Yong Siak Street Singapore, 168645 Singapore (map)

BooksActually is proud to present a reading of Kappa Quartet by Daryl Qilin Yam on the evening of 13 Jan. Described by QLRS has "a shimmering and poignant novel", The Straits Times as "atmospheric, surreal, and masterfully told", Yam has been described as The Business Times as "one to watch."

Set between Singapore and Japan, Yam's debut novel is split into eight discrete sections, tracing the rippling effects of this chance encounter across a host of other characters, connected and bound to one another in ways both strange and serendipitous. Together they ask one another: what does it mean to be in possession of something nobody has seen before?

Daryl Qilin Yam (b. 1991) is a Singaporean writer of prose and poetry, born and based in Singapore. Yam is also a co-editor of the SingPoWriMo anthology series by Math Paper Press, an arts organiser at Sing Lit Station, and a stageplay producer at the non-profit collective Take Off Productions. His first novel, Kappa Quartet (Epigram Books, 2016), was longlisted for the 2015 Epigram Books Fiction Prize. His website is darylqilinyam.com. His social media handle is @yammonation.
