MEET-THE-AUTHOR: Bilahari Kausikan

  • Kinokuniya 391 Orchard Road Singapore, 238872 Singapore

Bilahari Kausikan, Singapore’s ambassador-at-large, who was the Institute of Policy Studies’ (IPS) 2015/16 S. R. Nathan Fellow for the Study of Singapore, has published a book titled – Dealing with an Ambiguous World. This book contains edited versions of the five public IPS-Nathan lectures he gave between January and May 2016, as well as highlights of the accompanying dialogue with the audience.

In his lectures, Bilahari Kausikan gives a frank and dispassionate assessment of the international environment in the post-Cold War era as well as the geopolitical uncertainties that have emerged. In particular, he analyses the nature of US–China relations, the broad underlying factors in the South China Sea disputes and ASEAN’s attempts to maintain order, also the role that human rights and democracy have played in international relations. He concludes by suggesting what Singapore needs to do to cope with the complexities that lie ahead, in this age without definition.

If you are interested to find out more about Bilahari Kausikan’s assessment of the international environment in the post-Cold War era, as well as the geopolitical uncertainties that have emerged, be sure to pick up a copy of Dealing with an Ambiguous World, and join us for an insightful Meet-The-Author session at Kinokuniya Singapore Main Store on Saturday, 5th November, 2pm.
