SLS MASTERCLASS SERIES: "Fiction form the Body" by Wen-yi Lee (Sing Lit Station)

  • Sing Lit Station 22 Dickson Road #02-01 Singapore 209506 Singapore (map)

How might we translate our physical sensations into effective prose? What lessons can we learn from leaning into emotional intensity, monstrosity, and woundedness? What does it actually mean to show, not tell? In this masterclass, join Wen-yi Lee, author of When They Burned the Butterfly, in unpacking what it means to write embodied fiction. We will explore somatic writing exercises, atmosphere-building, the relationship between the concrete and the interior, and working with scenes of action and intimacy. Participants will generate new writing over this 3-hour session. This masterclass is aimed at intermediate writers and above; some experience with prose writing is required.
