Celebrating Ponti: a dinner

She wears an off-white dress that hugs her hips, and seduces men who are traveling alone along the lampless dirt roads of Pantai Dalam. It’s all in keeping with the Pontianak myth, told by worried wives to make their husbands wary of young, beautiful girls walking alone at night. Of course, the men don’t listen. And she looks so alluring. She brings her victims right up close and gives them a long, wet kiss that sucks the soul and youth out of them. The sight of my mother kissing an actor makes me squirm in my seat. Blood splatters. And then the camera pans to the tops of palm trees. You can see the leaves shaking. The sound of hungry slurping off-screen. — an extract from Ponti (2018) by Sharlene Teo

In celebration of Sharlene Teo's long-awaited debut, Sing Lit Station is excited to host an exclusive and intimate dinner with the author herself.

Taking notes from a wide range of regional cuisines, our guests will be treated to multiple courses of decadent, homemade food specially prepared by our kitchen-savvy staff. Specially selected wine (and tea, for non-drinkers) will also be provided. All this, while Sharlene herself gives a personal reading straight from the pages of her novel.

Each of our guests is also entitled to a free, personally signed copy of Ponti. Additional copies of the novel will also be available for purchase at a discounted price of $22 throughout the evening.

Seats are limited: only a maximum of 10 guests will be allowed to attend this dinner. Come alone or grab a friend – and get your tickets as fast as possible!
